Instagram's Twitter-like app is going to be launched this week.

Description:

Despite Twitter establishing itself as a platform for online public discourse, Mark Zuckerberg is relentlessly trying to dethrone it. Meta is finally ready to launch Twitter rival Threads. which has been mentioned for some time.

On Thursday, the Instagram-related Threads app was launched in the Apple App Store, allowing users to sign up and download it. Focused on public conversation, the app is similar to Twitter and allows users to follow people they already interact with on Instagram.

Some tech enthusiasts are even calling this upcoming app a potential "Twitter killer."

Since last year, Meta executives have been looking for ways to capitalize on Twitter"s turmoil, including developing competing services. A December report in the New York Times revealed an internal post from a Meta employee that "Twitter is in danger and Meta needs to regain its dignity." Go eat their bread and butter. "

As a result, Threads emerged as a rapid development project from Instagram, known internally as Project 92. As preview photos in the Apple App Store show, the app makes it easy for users to sign in using their Instagram account.

Meta administrators have described the app as a "well-managed" iteration of the popular social network, subtly hinting at Mask"s unpredictability.

We reached out to Musk and Twitter for comment, but did not immediately hear back. However, Threads quickly gained attention online, prompting Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey to tweet an image of the app"s data policy. Mr. Musk simply answered: Yes.

A Meta spokesperson did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
