On Sunday, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) members Attaullah Tarar and Malik Ahmad Khan accused Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairperson and former Prime Minister Imran Khan of tainting the country"s political landscape.
The PML-N leaders" remarks came after a purported audio tape of Imran Khan"s wife Bushra Bibi was leaked yesterday night, in which she can be heard issuing orders to PTI social media manager Arsalan Khan, asking him to accuse the erstwhile opposition parties of treason.
Members of the PML-N declared earlier today at a joint press conference that "it has been shown that accusations of treason were used against us on the direction of Bushra Bibi, [and] it poisoned politics."
Punjab Law Minister Malik Ahmad Khan responded by accusing Imran Khan of hypocrisy and "looting" the country.
"For three years, Imran Khan has claimed that he is on the similar page as the army and institution, but there have been seven cases [during his term] in which the legislation and the law have been violated," he stated.
Khan further asserted that Imran had succeeded to ruin Pakistan"s politics both locally and diplomatically, noting that when portraying his opponents as traitors failed, he chose to "tarnish foreign relations instead."
During the news conference, the provincial minister also played the viral audio.
Tarar further accused the former premier of transmitting billions of rupees to digital platforms on the occasion. "You are the Eiffel Tower of corruption; your mission is to sell the country"s gifts," he continued.
"Red warrant issued for Farah"
According to Attaullah Tarar, Imran Khan conspired with Farah Gogi, a close associate of Bushra Bibi, to steal millions of rupees.
He claimed Farah registered a 10-acre industrial land worth Rs600 million for only Rs83 million, saying Ahsan Jamil transfer the plot to his name using a forged bank guarantee.
"Who really doesn"t know how Farah Gogi gained billions of rupees?" he asked, adding, "Imran Khan, can this corruption be against your will?"
The PML-N leader asked that Imran Khan return Farah Gogi and her husband since a red warrant will be issued against them soon.
"It is immoral, illegal, and inhumane to leak audio of two private individuals."
In response to the recording leak, PTI member Fayyaz ul Hassan Chohan said it is "immoral, criminal, and inhumane" to leak private audio tapes.
The disclosure of audio and video tapes, according to the PTI leader, would not derail Imran Khan"s agenda. "Imran Khan is opposing America"s servitude with full courage and valour," Chohan continued.
He went on to say that Imran had "whole faith" in the involvement of millions of Rawalpindi and Islamabad residents.
