Abdul Qadir Patel, Minister of National Health Services, appealed to the public on Monday to stay home during the Eid holidays and take cautious precautions in light of the steady rise of Covid cases.
He told the media in Islamabad earlier today that the country"s coronavirus positivity rate is more than 4%.
He stated that the government has published the previously developed standard operating procedures (SOPs) to prevent the virus"s spread. He went on to say that SOPs for government ministries had also been issued.
During the news conference, he stated that 176 individuals had been hospitalised and that five people had been placed on ventilators in the previous 24 hours.
According to the minister, around 86% of Pakistan"s population is vaccinated, "while we are attempting to inject booster injections into one million people."
Patel stated that provinces have been given instructions to prepare all necessary procedures, including isolation centres, in light of the escalating number of Covid cases. He also emphasised the importance of expanding testing services in Karachi.
In response to a query, the minister stated that the situation is under control and that there is no need to implement smart lockdown across the country.
Sindh has a 10.53 % positive rate
The National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) issued an alert on Monday as the coronavirus spreads swiftly throughout the country, with Sindh reporting the highest daily number of cases.
According to the NCOC, 508 persons in Sindh were identified with Covid in the last 24 hours, with the positivity rate reaching 10.53 percent.
Furthermore, data from Karachi indicate that the port city"s positive rate has risen to 20.61 percent, with 456 cases registered in the last 24 hours.
In the last 24 hours, 675 Covid cases were reported across the country. Authorities indicated that cases are increasing in all provinces.
Hyderabad currently has a positivity rate of 0.83 percent, while Mirpur Azad Kashmir has a rate of 2.44 percent, Quetta has a rate of 2.71 percent, Mardan has a rate of 2.21 percent, Peshawar has a rate of 4.51 percent, Rawalpindi has a rate of 0.75 percent, and Faisalabad has a rate of 1.52 percent.
The federal capital has also experienced a significant increase in the number of Covid-19 cases, with a positive rate of 3.48 percent. Similarly, according to officials, Lahore has a positive rate of 3.29 percent.
According to data supplied by the National Institute of Health (NIH) on July 2, four persons were reported to have died from Covid-19 in a single day, while the positive rate had reached 4%.
According to the NIH"s daily tally, 818 persons tested positive out of the 18,305 tests performed in the previous day.
Patel stated that every precaution was being taken to safeguard individuals from the coronavirus.
In a statement, the minister recommended people to follow the government"s measures to avoid the illness, such as wearing face masks and keeping social distance.
