Federal Finance and Revenue Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb said on Tuesday that income tax payers will be given an opportunity to explain their position before being banned from traveling abroad.
In the Natiaonal Assembly, the minister stated that 116 of the Income Tax Ordinance of 2001 necessitates an explanation of property owned by others and property of one"s spouse in case the spouse is a dependent on tax payer .
The minister further said that the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) will check if the defaulter has a habit of filing late returns and will be fined.If the person who failed to report did not submit the income statement before the deadline, the amount of the fine will be increased, he added.
In this regard it is pertinent to mention that the Federal Government has proposed to the Federal Government to ban candidates from traveling abroad..
