Imran Khan shows up to speak at PTI's "great power show" at Lahore's National Hockey Stadium

Description:

Imran Khan, the chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has arrived at the National Hockey Stadium in Lahore to a sizable audience of devoted followers who are anxious to hear what the former prime minister has to say on the eve of Pakistan"s 75th Independence celebration.

Friday"s "great power show" would honour Pakistan"s "haqeeqi (genuine) liberation," according to the erstwhile ruling party.

Across order to broadcast Imran Khan"s address live, screens have been placed up in the nation"s major cities. Khan is the chairman of the PTI.

The party last week changed the location of its August 13 power show from Islamabad"s Parade Ground to Lahore"s hockey stadium, only hours after the TLP announced its "Nazriya Pakistan March" and conference at the federal capital"s Faizabad Interchange.

Imran has escalated his criticism of the ruling coalition since his dismissal in April and has consistently claimed that the United States removed him from the position of prime minister through the current leaders.

This will be his first major event since the PTI won handily in the by-elections for Punjab in July and took power in the province.

As the party"s "fight for real freedom has entered its last stage," PTI leader Fawad Chaudhry told reporters earlier today at the rally"s location that former PM Imran would disclose the next course of action.

He said the Punjab government would declare Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah and PML-N leader Ataullah Tarar "wanted" if they failed to appear before the investigation team set up to look into the crackdown carried out against PTI leaders during the May 25 long march. He was speaking in response to the raid on Tarar"s home.

Hamza Shehbaz, the former chief minister of Punjab, was also criticised by him. He claimed that Shehbaz "fled to London despite significant money laundering charges against him."

Fawad also hoped that Shhahz Gill, the PTI leader who has been detained by the court for making divisive remarks about the military forces, would be given bail on Monday.
