Description:
Pakistani writer and director Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar is back in the news for reasons the public has grown accustomed to. This time, veteran actor and model Resham called him out during her appearance on Tabish Hashmi"s show Hasna Mana Hai, specifically for his remarks about fellow actor and friend Mahira Khan.
While Resham acknowledged that Qamar"s writing ability is exceptional, his constant criticism of Khan is unjustified and unnecessary. What"s more absurd is Qamar"s claim to have cast Khan in Sadqay Tumhare, a biographical drama based on the writer"s life. According to Resham, the casting process is overseen by the producer or channel rather than the writer, especially for a well-known figure like Khan. "He said on the show that he regrets signing Mahira for Sadqay Tumhare, but who is he to sign her?" she asked.
Resham claimed that Qamar speaks about famous actors, particularly women, for publicity purposes. At the end of the day, it appears that Qamar strongly believes that all attention is positive attention.
The working relationship between Qamar and Khan soured after the Quaid-e-Azam Zindabad actor chastised the writer on television for making misogynistic remarks about journalist Marvi Sirmed. Since that infamous incident, Qamar has been a frequent source of controversy due to his conservative viewpoints and derogatory remarks about women.
As a result, it is not surprising that this is not the first time a female actor has criticised him. Resham condemned Qamar on Instagram earlier this month after he remarked on the Masjid-e-Nabvi incident involving PMLN leaders, saying Qamar "has gone insane and needs to be treated before he starts biting everyone with his poisonous teeth."
