Description:
Mohammad Rizwan, a Pakistan wicket-keeper-batter, hit a rapid half-century in the fourth innings to aid Sussex to an astonishing run-chase against Derbyshire, resulting in their first County Championship victory since April 2021.
Rizwan, with 130 in the first innings contributed to the team"s 337-run total, also added 76 runs off 82 balls in the team"s successful pursuit of the 345-run target in 73.1 overs with five wickets lost.
Sussex lost their first wicket when they were on 41 in the fourth innings while chasing a total of 345 runs, but opening batsman Ali Orr and Tom Alsop stitched a 140-run partnership that rejuvenated Sussex"s hopes.
Following Alsop"s dismissal while batting at 55, Mohammad Rizwan joined Ali Orr and scored another rapid 93-run partnership that drove Sussex to victory.
When Orr was caught on the mid-wicket boundaries, Sussex needed another 68 runs, but Rizwan and Delray Rawlins" 34-run partnership took them over the line.
Mohmmad Rizwan made his final County Championship performance before joining Pakistan"s national team ahead of the 2 Test series against Sri Lanka. Rizwan has 342 runs at an average of 57, with one century and two fifties.
