Description:
After being chosen for the Pakistani team for the Asia Cup 2022 and the Netherlands series, pacer Naseem Shah withdrew from The Hundred, England"s franchise cricket team.
The 19-year-old pacer joined the white-ball team earlier this week following a respectable showing in the two-match Test series vs Sri Lanka, where he grabbed five wickets in the final Test.
In place of representing Welsh Fire in the second iteration of The Hundred, Naseem Shah will instead play his first white-ball game for Pakistan. In the white-ball squad, he took Hasan Ali"s place, a pacer who was out of shape.
In addition to playing in the Asia Cup 2022, which gets underway on August 27, the Babar-led team will play the Netherlands in a three-match ODI series beginning on August 16.
In 2019, Naseem made his red-ball cricket debut for Pakistan against Australia. Since then, he has participated in 13 Test matches and took 33 wickets at an average of 36.3.
The defending champion Southern Brave won their opening match against Welsh Fire on August 3 by a margin of nine wickets. Two Pakistani pacers, Mohammad Hasnain and Wahab Riaz, are competing for the Oval Invincibles and Northern Superchargers, respectively.
