Description:
The National Security Committee (NSC) held a thorough discussion on the discussions with the outlawed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and the state of affairs along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border during an in-camera meeting.
According to Radio Pakistan, the participants gathered on Wednesday in Islamabad with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif presiding.
The meeting was attended by members of the military leadership, national, parliamentary, and political leadership.
Those present were given a briefing on the general state of security, including the risks to internal and foreign security and the measures being taken by security organisations to counter them.
The background of the discussions with the TTP and its various stages were explained to the gathering.
The leadership stated their confidence that Pakistan will not be able to utilise Afghan land against them.
It stated that the world had recognised the nation"s sacrifices in the fight against terrorism.
The discussion members also agreed that there was no planned terrorist network operating in the nation.
Later, Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah and Minister for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb told a press conference in Islamabad that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif would discuss the NSC meeting in private during a soon-to-be-held session of parliament.
Regarding the criticisms of the accountability law made by the former prime minister Imran Khan, Sanaullah claimed that the law had been changed in accordance with the spirit of the Criminal Procedure Code, reducing the remand duration from 90 to 14 days.
All citizens, including the "frontmen" of the former prime Imran Khan, will gain from the revisions, he continued.
Imran is attempting to deceive the country about NAB changes, according to the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) stalwart, in order to support his narrative.
