Sindh local government elections have started polling

GDA, PTI, and MQM-P take on Sindh"s ruling party, with the PPP hoping for an easy triumph
People gathered at polling places in 14 districts of the province to elect the members of their local bodies days after the Sindh High Court (SHC) dismissed requests to delay the local government election (LG).
At least 21,298 candidates were running for 5,331 seats as of lunchtime, and voting was taking place in more than a dozen districts throughout Sindh. The candidates for 946 seats have already been deemed to be unopposed, according to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), and voting will take place continuously from 9 am to 5 pm.
In total, there were 1,1492,680 voters throughout all 14 districts, for whom 29.5 million ballots were printed, and for whom 9290,000 voting places and 29,970 polling booths were put up.
1,985 polling places were deemed "very sensitive" and 3,448 were deemed "sensitive" by the election body.
Jacobabad, Qambar, Shahdad Kot, Shikarpur, Larkana, Kashmore, Kandhkot, Ghotki, Khairpur, Shikarpur, Naushero Feroze, Shaheed Benazir, Abad, Sanghar, Mirpur Khas, Umerkot, and Tharparkar are the 14 districts in Sukkur, Larkana, Shaheed Benazirabad, and Mirpur Khas divisions that will hold elections.
wins without opposition
According to statistics, candidates have won 135 of the 887 union council and committee seats without facing opposition, and there is currently a race between 3,190 applicants for the remaining 752 seats.
There are 2,604 candidates vying for 687 of the 794 district council seats, with 107 individuals running unopposed. There are 9744 candidates vying for 2926 seats on the 3,548-member union committee and union council, with 622 individuals running unopposed.
In addition, 3,225 candidates are vying for the remaining 626 seats, leaving 68 candidates with uncontested victories out of the 694 seats up for grabs for ward councillors on town committees.
Security precautions
Ijaz Anwar Chauhan, the Sindh Election Commissioner, on the other hand, stated during a press conference that Rangers men will be there alongside police to provide swift response if necessary.
In case of emergency, he further said, they were in contact with the military. Ijaz claimed that in order to make the elections transparent, cameras had been set up, and a strong security system was also put in place.
He insisted that those who foment trouble would face harsh punishment and added that Daska"s case served as an example to everyone.
He added that "action will be taken against staff who conspired with the candidates."
PPP aspiring
The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), which has ruled Sindh for 14 years, will defend its prior electoral victories in the 14 districts of Sindh"s four divisions" local government institutions.
The ruling party will be challenged in the elections by the members of the Grand Democratic Alliance, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan, and a few smaller groups.
