Dua Zehra is between the ages of 15 and 16, according to a ten-member medical board that was formed on Monday at the request of a Karachi-area court.
The teen"s physical age is between 14 and 15 years, according to the medical board"s report, yet X-rays of her teeth and bones put her age between 13 and 15 years and 16 to 17 years, respectively.
She is the most likely between the ages of 15 and 16, the medical team determined in consultation, and the report has been forwarded to the Sindh Health Department. The board members, including the chairman, have signed the final report.
Upon the parents" claim that Dua Zehra was underage, a Karachi court ordered the creation of a medical board on June 25 in order to establish her age. The minor, however, has asserted repeatedly that she is 18 years old and that her marriage to Zaheer Ahmed is lawful.
Jibran Nasir, the parent"s attorney, posted on social media that because Dua is still a juvenile, "offences of kidnapping, child marriage, and rape/sexual offences all are drawn to a case where girl child is under 16."
The present investigating officer, who has been telling the media that Dua"s case is not a kidnapping, has come under fire from him, and he has called for the Inspector General Police (IGP) Sindh to take "urgent action" to have him fired.
Since the police had relied on the girl"s repeated claims that she was 18 years old, the attorney general of Sindh had advised the Sindh High Court (SHC) that no case of kidnapping had been established; "now it is demonstrated that these comments were the consequence of inducement," said Nasir.
The medical board conducted a meeting on Sunday to discuss the teenager"s age.
In accordance with the court"s directions, the police transported Dua from Lahore to Sindh Services Hospital in Karachi under heavy guard before presenting her to the medical board.
A medical board of ten specialists was established by the Sindh Health Department. Professor Dr. Saba Sohail, principal of Dow Medical College, is in charge of the board.
