United States and Pakistan have made the decision to strengthen and expand their health cooperation in the areas of nutrition, maternal health, immunisation, child survival, and health security across borders.
A joint initiative between the two nations has also begun to create a Center for Disease Prevention in Pakistan.
When speaking at the US-Pakistan Health Dialogue, which was organised by the US Department Of state, United States Agency for International Development (USAID), and Department of Health and Human Services, Abdul Qadir Patel, Pakistan"s Federal Health Minister for National Health Services, Regulations, and Coordination, made these remarks (DHHS).
The US government"s donation of 61.5 million COVID-19 vaccinations, 16 million vaccines for children, and other supplies, such as ventilators and protective kits, was acknowledged by the health minister.
According to him, the Pakistan-US relationship in the health sector "clearly established that a powerful Pakistan-US alliance may constitute a bulwark against pandemic and diseases therefore saving millions of valuable human lives" during the COVID-19 epidemic.
"There are no limits to disease. A pandemic will not only be difficult for one country, but also for the surrounding area and beyond"
The Minister highlighted Pakistan"s efforts to eradicate polio and stressed the importance of a comprehensive strategy that includes immunisation, nutrition for mothers and children, and other preventative measures. In order to efficiently track and stop the spread of the disease across borders, he claimed that Pakistan is upgrading its Border Health Agency as part of its efforts to implement the Global Health Security Agenda.
