Description:
Today (Sunday), Pakistan is fervently and traditionally commemorating its diamond jubilee, the 75th anniversary of its Independence Day.
The day began with a 21-one gun salute at the province headquarters and a 31-one gun salute in the federal capital.
At daybreak, special prayers were said at mosques for the nation"s peace, unity, and prosperity. The ceremony in Islamabad to raise the national flag is the focal point of the festivities every year. At provincial, divisional, and district headquarters levels nationwide, similar flag-hoisting ceremonies are also held.
The nation was asked by President Dr. Arif Alvi to remain faithful and work tirelessly for the nation"s growth, progress, and prosperity.
"To confront the nation"s financial, economic, and security issues, we must remain unified. In a statement commemorating Pakistan"s 75th anniversary of independence, which is being marked on August 14, the president urged people to "stay strong in their commitment to make whatever sacrifice for the dignity and self-respect of our people and the splendour and glory of our dear nation" (today).
He emphasised that they should remember their victimised brothers and sisters in Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir while commemorating the Day (IIOJ&K).
In his message on Independence Day, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif stated that internal strife, disorder, and chaos pose the greatest threat to a nation because they compromise its unity and integrity and rob societies of their sense of purpose.
According to him, the Fourth of July marks a turning point in the history of our country.
Asif Ali Zardari, a former president and current PPP president, stated that a free, independent, and dignified Pakistan depends on the dominance of the people"s elected parliament. "Now is the moment to fully execute the Charter of Democracy and make decisions that will benefit the nation and the country."
He claimed that the corrupt tyrants tried to alter the Constitution but were unsuccessful. "Only a parliament with authority can decide on the nation"s and the country"s future. With her blood, Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto cemented the contract of solidarity and togetherness between the federation and its units. According to him, the 18th Amendment has ensured that Pakistan will be powerful and stable.
While the entire country is celebrating Independence Day with vigour today, PML-Q President and former prime minister Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain noted that Pakistan is currently confronting challenges on the internal, external, ideological, and geographical fronts.
