More rain falls in Karachi during the fourth monsoon spell

Description:

It"s not over yet, according to the chief meteorologist, because another system could bring additional rain.

Wednesday saw the arrival of the fourth monsoon spell, which brought with it high winds and medium to heavy rainfall to several regions of Sindh, including Karachi, which is still suffering from the effects of the previous spells.

"In Thursday, rain is expected to fall on Karachi from a second weather system moving across central India after emerging from the Bay of Bengal. The metropolis will suffer twice as much, said Karachi Chief Meteorologist Sardar Sarfaraz.

We cannot declare that it is a separate spell of monsoon because a series of weather systems are moving in the direction of the port city. We may say that it is the fourth spell that will be delivered in phases," he said.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) predicts that Sindh will have another rainstorm on Thursday. The city might receive up to 150mm of rain from this spell, and another 150mm of rain could follow. Additionally, the consequences of succeeding weather systems could linger until the morning of August 16.

According to the chief meteorologist for Karachi, thundershowers and heavy rain are likely to continue through Sunday. Then, a fresh monsoon spell from the Bay of Bengal will move into Sindh, which might bring heavy rain and thundershowers to the city between August 17 and August 18.

Rainfall from the current monsoon spell could continue through August 14 in Karachi and other parts of Sindh. Along the Khuzdar, Lasbela, Hub, and Kirthar Ranges, there may be constant rain, which could put pressure on the Hub dam. Fishermen have been warned to exercise caution until August 14 due to expected high tides and floods.

The city"s heat wave was broken by Wednesday"s showers, and the weather improved. The highest temperature was 35.5 degrees, and 92 percent of the air was humid.
