Description:
Freelancers and digital marketers have encouraged the government to include the freelancing economy on the national agenda in order to expand their footprints in the global market and raise foreign exchange reserves.
They have sought the government"s support and urge it to adopt their suggestions into the freelancing policy in order to fully exploit the global freelancing market and assist repay the country"s debts.
The whole market for freelancers has been estimated to exceed $1.5 trillion. There are currently over 77 million freelancers working.
They claimed that Pakistan might avoid IMF loan packages if the government funded freelancers in the same way that India did to improve its foreign exchange profits.
Tanveer Nandla, Pakistan"s top-rated bloggers and freelancer according to the World Bank, said making money online via freelancing was a genuine form of income for the youth.
Every year, Nandla"s students bring in $115 million from the global market through freelancing and blogging.
He told that supporting freelancers was the only quick solution to poverty and unemployment.
He emphasised that the government should support and recognise freelancers, who bring billions of dollars to Pakistan per year, in order to exploit the maximum potential of the global market.
"Pakistan needs dollars, and freelancers may bring them if the government incorporates this sector into the national strategy and future growth plan," he said.
Nandla stated that the government was providing cash to individuals through the Benazir Income Support Program (BISP), and that at the same time, the government should develop a scheme under the BISP to provide computers to those who have freelancing abilities but lacked the funds to purchase laptops.
"Right now, the youth are gaining skills to become freelancers, but they don"t have laptop computers," he explained.
Rehan Allahwala, another well-known freelancer and mentor, stated that Pakistan had 70 million young people who had only completed matriculation.
On a freelance site, any young man with graphic design talents may earn $500 per month. Rather than approaching the IMF, World Bank, and friendly countries for aid, he emphasised that the government should appeal to their people to motivate them, as they could contribute funds to repay the country"s loans.
"If 10 million people, or 5% of the overall population, start earning $500 a month, they can bring in $120 billion each year," he stated. "The government should make this a national priority in order to stimulate and establish trust in people."
He believed that government should also conduct a nationwide campaign to encourage the freelancers who were bringing in large sums of money to Pakistan. "This will assist the youth in motivating more people to work in the freelancing sector."
He proposed that the government include IT skills in the lower level school curriculum in order to educate and teach youngsters.
Another famous freelancer in Pakistan, Hisham Sarwar, believes that youngsters should master IT skills that would enable them to begin working on the freelancing platform.
