A video that shows stranded individuals being rescued over a roaring torrent by a man-made pulley has gone viral online.
According to reports, Wajid Ali, a resident of Bahrain in Swat, helped numerous stranded individuals by first building a pulley (similar to a chairlift) to transport them to safety.
Later, in an unexpected gesture, he helped hundreds of people cross to the town"s safer side by literally building a bridge over the roaring river with support from others.
His efforts were afterwards praised on social media and featured on national television all around the country.
Here is a video showing the bridge being built by Wajid and other villagers in order to rescue the stranded people.
Thousands of people are still stranded in the Swat Valley as a result of numerous road connections and bridges being destroyed by the monsoon"s terrible floods.
Over 200,000 people, according to Junaid Khan, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Swat, were stranded in the district.
With the help of the military and the Government of KP, over 600 trapped visitors, including women, children, and the sick, were taken to safety on Wednesday.
