The latest South African franchise T20 league is scheduled to become a mini-Indian Premier League (IPL), with all six teams owned by owners of various IPL franchises.
Owners of the Mumbai Indians, Chennai Super Kings, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Delhi Capitals, Rajasthan Royals, and Lucknow Super Giants were successful in their bids to purchase teams in the newly announced tournament, according to details.
While Cricket South Africa (CSA) has stated that the franchise owners will be officially confirmed by the end of the month, reports indicate that ownership of all six teams was already decided following the team auctions.
According to sources, the Mumbai Indians will acquire the Cape Town team, while the Chennai Super Kings will become the new owners of a Johannesburg-based team.
Furthermore, the Delhi Capitals will own the Pretoria franchise, while the Lucknow Super Giants are interested in the Durban franchise. The Port Elizabeth franchise is expected to be handed over to the owners of Sunrisers Hyderabad, while the Paarl team is expected to be owned by the Rajasthan Royals.
