Over 100 people lose their lives to floods in Pakistan, and the military helps with rescue attempts

Description:

The military forces increased their assistance efforts in Balochistan"s flood-devastated regions on Thursday. As of this writing, 111 people have died as a result of the record rainfall.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), two Army Aviation helicopters have flown from Karachi to the Balochistan regions of Othal and Lasbella as part of its humanitarian efforts to help with rescue efforts.

Inclement weather prevented the helicopters from taking off during the previous 48 hours, according to the military"s media wing. Now, the helicopters would help move stranded individuals to safer locations and bring essential relief supplies.

According to the announcement, the senior local commander of Khuzdar is scheduled to visit the flood-affected districts today. The general officer commanding Gwadar had previously visited Othal to observe rescue and relief activities.

The ISPR further stated that ground rescue and relief teams were hard at work in the Othal and Jhal Magsi districts, relocating people to safer locations and giving the locals food and water.

The coastal roadway, which had been damaged by the torrential downpours, had reopened for traffic, according to the military"s media wing, and physicians and paramedics were treating the affected individuals.

"Actions are being taken to restore utilities and rebuild the damaged communication infrastructure. The breached Turbat protection bund has been fixed, according to the military.

On Wednesday, hundreds were evacuated with the aid of rescue crews, boats, and helicopters due to flash floods caused by persistent heavy rain.

According to reports, 104 individuals perished in the floods.

Additionally, the ISPR reported that troops were helping the civil government in Dera Ghazi Khan, Punjab, provide relief efforts as a result of flash flooding and hill torrents.

The army has set up medical camps to offer medical attention to locals who have been harmed by floods.

The statement continued, "In Sindh, in addition to dewatering activities in Karachi, the troops were engaged by relief work in Jamshoro and Gharo localities.

Additionally, the Pakistan Navy has kept up its humanitarian activities in Balochistan and Sindh.

Due to the disruption of land routes, meals and other necessities were delivered by Navy helicopters to several locations in the Lasbela district of Balochistan, according to a Navy spokesperson.

Journalist Ghazanfar Abbas reported that "people were assisting themselves and others" in Dera Ghazi Khan, Punjab. Numerous people can be seen on top of a bus and others gripping a rope in a video that he released on his Twitter account.
