Asif Ali Zardari, a former president and co-chairman of the Pakistan People"s Party, had a positive Covid-19 test on Thursday.
Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari tweeted that although his father tested positive for the virus, he had been "completely vaccinated, [and] boosted."
Zardari is "isolating with moderate symptoms and seeking therapy," Bilawal continued. We are praying for his quick recovery, he added.
Bakhtawar Bhutto Zardari, the former president"s daughter, also posted on Twitter that the previous president tested positive upon arrival in Dubai but that his symptoms were "minimal."
Bakhtawar reaffirmed Zardari"s promise to return after his recovery and urged everyone to "be careful" about the illness.
Covid across Pakistan
Out of the 20,843 tests performed in the last 24 hours, 761 persons tested positive for covid, an increase from Wednesday"s count of 620 positive instances.
The country"s positive rate was 3.65%, with eight people passing away from the illness. The National Institutes of Health revealed that 170 individuals were still receiving critical care.
