Petrol Reserves Have Dramatically Increased, So There Is No Risk of Shortage, says Musadik Malik

Description:

With enough gasoline on hand for 34 days and extra diesel on hand for 66 days, Pakistan"s oil reserves have significantly expanded.
At a news conference in Islamabad, State Minister for Petroleum Musadik Malik disclosed this.

The minister assured the press that there was no danger of a gasoline or diesel scarcity in the nation and that it was the responsibility of the government to preserve these products" availability. He saw to it that the nation"s supply of petroleum products saw a record increase.

He stated to the media that the government"s priorities were to cut back on imports and correct the trade deficit. The government had created a tighter import policy in this area. Additionally, the nation has seen a decline in fuel demand.

From 778,000 tons in June 2021 to 702,000 tons in June 2022, consumption of petroleum products fell by 9%. Similarly, during the same time period, the use of diesel also decreased by 8%, from 776,000 tons in June 2021 to 713,000 tonnes in June 2022.

The amount of gasoline consumed during the first 20 days of July 2022 has already decreased by 30 percent year over year (YoY), and by the end of the month, it is predicted to be about 580,000 tonnes compared to 880,000 tonnes in July 2021. Similar to gasoline, diesel consumption has decreased by 45 to 50 percent this month and is expected to total roughly 400,000 tonnes, down from 720,000 tonnes in the previous financial year.

The record supply of petroleum products was also verified by yesterday by Finance Minister Miftah Ismail. He had accused the previous administration of subsidising fuel by Rs. 70 a litre, which had increased demand and increased the cost of imports.
