Samina Baig, a well-known Pakistani mountaineer and the first and only Pakistani woman to reach the peak of Everest, made it to the top of K2 on Friday morning.
At 8,611 metres, Mount K2 in the Karakoram Range is the second-highest mountain in the world.
Samina is currently the only Pakistani woman to have scaled both the highest and second-highest mountains in the world after climbing the "Savage Mountain."
She also has the distinction of climbing the Seven Summits, the seven tallest mountains in the world.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also complimented Samina after her summit ended successfully.
K2"s summit experiences winds that can gust over 200 kph (125 mph) and temperatures that plunge to minus 60 °C (minus 76 Fahrenheit).
K2 excursions
Lebanese-Along with mountaineers from Pakistan and over a dozen other nations, Nelly Attar, a Saudi fitness specialist, is participating in the expedition to climb K2, commonly known as the "Savage Mountain."
The group includes climbers from Pakistan as well as the US, Lebanon, Nepal, the Philippines, Estonia, Turkey, New Zealand, Australia, Hong Kong, Argentina, and the UK.
Attar is one of the 1,400 international mountaineers who are travelling to Pakistan this year to climb several mountains in the country"s northern regions.
