PMD Issues a 3-Day Warning Against Urban and Flash Flooding

Officials from the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) have issued a warning that the country"s metropolitan areas and flash flooding are likely to be affected by torrential rains between July 23 and 26 in places including central and south Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Sindh, and east Balochistan.

Landslides are anticipated in Kashmir, Murree, Gilgit, Hunza, Skardu, Galiyat, Chillas, Diamir, and Astore at this time.

Strong monsoon currents have penetrated the country"s centre and south, according to Met officials, bringing rain, wind, and thundershowers to Kashmir, Punjab, Islamabad, Gilgit-Baltistan, upper Sindh, and east Balochistan. Following sporadic severe rains, Punjab, Sindh, KP, and east Balochistan could expect them as well.

Lahore"s Precipitation Intensity

On Friday, Lahore experienced humid weather with sporadic rains. The following 24 hours are expected to be similar. Yesterday, the provincial capital experienced a maximum temperature of 34 °C and a low temperature of 22.6 °C.

Rainfall totals in Mughalpura were 25 mm, 50 mm at the airport, 53 mm in Tajpura, 37 mm in Shahdara, 42 mm in Shahi Qila, 25 mm in Mughalpura, and 20 mm each in Samanabad and Johar Town.

Similar to this, Gulshan Ravi received 23 mm, Lakshmi Chowk and Upper Mall each received 15 mm, Misri Shah and Township each received 11 mm, Gulberg received 13 mm, Walled City received 8 mm, Punjab University received 6 mm, and Iqbal Town received 4 mm.

Rain in Sindh and Punjab

Along with Islamabad, rain was also reported in the following cities: Sialkot, Rawalpindi, Multan, Bhakkar, Sargodha, DG Khan, Narowal, Gujranwala, Murree, Jhang, Hafizabad, Khanewal, Kasur, Rahimyar Khan, Kot Addu, Layyah, Faisalabad, Jhelum, Mangla, Khanpur, Noorpur Thal, Gujrat, Mandi

Downpours were experienced at Mohenjo-Daro, Rohri, Larkana, Jacobabad, Sakrand, Dadu, Sukkur, Shaheed Benazirabad, Karachi, and Thatta.

Takht-i-Bahi, Peshawar, Bannu, Dera Ismail (DI) Khan, Parachinar, Malam Jabba, and Kakul all had rain in KP and AJK.
Kotli, Garhi Dupatta, and Rawalakot all had some rain.

Balochistan experiences rain

Rain fell in Barkhan and Sibi as well, and Nokundi recorded a maximum temperature of 47 °C on Friday.
