Description:
The Punjab government has resolved to hire thousands of educators for all public schools run by the School Education Department (SED).
The decision was made to address the province"s critical shortage of educators. The move is also part of the province"s attempts to combat unemployment.
Rana Mashood Ahmed Khan, Punjab Education Minister, said on Twitter that the provincial government will hire more than 16,000 instructors across the province.
During the previous mandate of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) from 2013 to 2018, SED Punjab employed more than 230,000 educators on merit, according to the Minister.
After four years and right after coming into power we are recruiting more than 16000 educators and will keep on increasing every year and we recruited two lac thirty thousand teachers on merit in our last tenure https://t.co/QQHO1llYcO

The Punjab Teachers Union (PTU) requested last month that the recently elected Punjab government enhance the salaries of teaching and non-teaching personnel at all public sector schools and institutions by 50%.
Chaudhry Sarfraz, Central President of the PTU, stated that teaching and non-teaching personnel are the backbone of the education system, but they are suffering owing to poor wages in the face of crushing inflation.
