The Gray Man, a brand-new spy thriller from Netflix, will have a sequel and a spinoff, the streaming service announced on Tuesday. Ryan Gosling will appear in both films.

The Gray Man, one of Netflix"s most expensive films to date, debuted on Friday and, according to the company, was the most watched movie on the service in 92 nations. In the movie, Gosling plays Sierra Six, a former prisoner who was freed by the CIA in exchange for participation in a covert programme.

Gosling and the filmmakers Joe and Anthony Russo are currently working on a sequel, according to a statement from Netflix. The studio also revealed a different spinoff film, although no plot or character information was given. The Gray Man"s expansion is a part of Netflix"s plan to create brands with recognisable characters that can be used in movies, television shows, video games, and other media.

The brothers Joe and Anthony Russo, who also directed Marvel"s mega-hit Avengers: Endgame, based the movie on a Mark Greaney novel. According to the Russos, Netflix enabled them to project their entire concept onto the screen. Seven different countries, ranging from France and Croatia to Azerbaijan, were used to film The Gray Man.

Anthony Russo stated, "We wanted to go incredibly ambitious with this movie. "Action photography is challenging. Action scenes are expensive to shoot, but Netflix was willing to take on this degree of challenge." The film contains nine significant action scenes, including a protracted gunfight in a Prague square. With it being my first action movie, Gosling admitted, "It was really a trial by fire for me."

Gosling"s adversary Lloyd Hansen, an assassin who was discharged from the CIA for using excessive force, is portrayed by Chris Evans. Evans described the role as "unapologetically himself." In contrast to Lloyd, who is unconstrained by these social norms, "I think most of us move through the world assessing who we are based on who we think we"re meant to be."
