Description:
Things couldn"t be better now that HBO has approved a live-action spin-off series.
Following the announcement of a Game of Thrones (GoT) prequel dedicated to the legendary House Targaryen, HBO is planning a followup, a live-action spin-off series focusing on fan favourite, Jon Snow, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
"You know nothing about HBO"s post-Game of Thrones plans," the outlet claims. However, the network has announced that Kit Harington will resume his role if the series is renewed. The actor was nominated for two Emmys for his valiant portrayal of the show"s action hero, Jon Snow, who battles to uphold his family"s noble principles.
Perhaps the sequel will make up for the "awful" finish, as most fans who feared viewing the climax have said. In retrospect, the initiative could potentially upend the climax as the ultimate word on the destinies of the survivors. It might also pave the way for the show"s surviving characters, including as Arya Stark (Maisie Williams), Sansa Stark (Sophie Turner), and Brienne of Tarth, to return (Gwendoline Christie).
After being banished from Westeros, Snow travels to the North Wall, where he joins the Wildlings to leave his former life behind. From being nicknamed the "bastard" of the show, the eighth chapter reveals that his real name is Aegon Targaryen and that he is an heir to the Iron Throne. On Game of Thrones, he was recognised for enduring some of the show"s most difficult filming, including the last season"s infamous 11 weeks of winter night shots in Northern Ireland.
According to the outlet, the new development signals an intriguing new direction in HBO"s handling of author George R R Martin"s fantasy universe, similar to Disney+"s handling of its Star Wars and Marvel brands, where the streaming service has found success going to launch character-focused sequel series including such WandaVision (starring Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff) and Obi-Wan Kenobi (with Ewan McGregor reprising his iconic role).
The icing on the cake? The recent announcement means there are currently seven GoT projects in the making. THR reached out to HBO and Harington"s agents for comment. Meanwhile, on August 21, the prequel series House of the Dragon will premiere, telling the narrative of a civil war inside House Targaryen 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones.
