Description:
Nazia Hassan, the Queen of South Asian Pop, is on her way to illuminate Times Square! As part of Spotify"s global EQUAL campaign, the late singer"s photo will be shown later this month in New York"s hippest place, giving her the honor and respect she always deserved.
But for the time being, she is serving as the ambassadors for the month of August and is starring on the cover of the EQUAL playlist on the streaming service, which features both local and international versions of her popular song Boom Boom.
Nazia became the first EQUAL ambassador to be awarded posthumously. She left a lasting impression on the nation and was admired for changing the local pop music scene during the 1980s and 1990s. This month, in honour of the 22nd anniversary of her passing, the programme, which was established earlier this year to give women musicians a voice and recognise their contributions to the music business, has picked the renowned Nazia.
"Nazia Hassan is known for her elegance and deep lyrics. Even after she passed away, her effect on the subcontinent is still imitated and admired. She and her brother Zoheb Hassan made their debut in 1980 with the song Aap Jaisa Koi, and since then, they have sold more than 65 million records worldwide. She was the first Pakistani and the youngest person to ever win the Filmfare Award for the Best Female Playback Singer when she did it at the age of 15 in 1981, according to a news release from the music streaming service.
The statement said, "EQUAL Pakistan honours her immense effect on Pakistan"s music ecosystem as the world commemorates her passing on August 13 on the 22nd anniversary of her passing. Nazia has a deep love and appreciation for her music and her efforts to social concerns with her brother Zoheb Hassan.
Regarding his sister"s participation in the programme, Zoheb said: "I want to express my gratitude to Spotify for proposing Nazia Hassan as the EQUAL Ambassador for Pakistan and the World. We have always been serious in our music and art as children. When we first began, folk and traditional music predominated the South Asian music landscape, and there was a need for young people"s mainstream music. Eventually, our music spread over the globe, demonstrating that there are no physical limitations to music. As we attempted to do when we were younger, it is crucial for artists to use their influence to promote societal change, from environmental preservation to the promotion of peace."
"This month, we"re highlighting a musician who transformed the music business for both her historical period and subsequent decades. It is none other than Nazia Hassan who is speaking. We couldn"t be more pleased with our decision to honour her life and music "Khan FM, Artist and Label Partnerships, Pakistan on Spotify was highlighted.
"We hope that her admirers from over the globe will attend, bring their feelings of love and respect, and relive her life"s recollections through all of her incredible successes. Join us in honouring a legend whose soulful lyrics forever left a mark on our hearts."
The programme honoured Grammy winner Arooj Aftab before honouring Hasan, as well as Natasha Baig, Hadiqa Kiani, and Mehak Ali. It also features a list of outstanding female voices to introduce the world to. Each EQUAL Pakistan Ambassador of the Month will receive natural and on-platform promotion in Spotify"s editorial areas, according to Spotify. The model aims to increase artists" visibility on the platform both within and outside of their home nations. We can"t wait to meet the upcoming EQUAL Ambassadors, each of whom will receive a billboard position in the middle of Times Square in New York.
