Science has discovered a technique to substitute cow milk

Description:

The milk is produced utilising a biotechnological approach known as "precision fermentation," which involves the development of biomass culture from cells.

With consumers seeking to switch to a vegan diet and stop eating animals, the dairy sector must adjust as well.

According to ZME Science, science has finally discovered an alternative to cow milk by creating synthetic milk with the same biological makeup as animal milk.

The milk is produced utilising a biotechnological approach known as "precision fermentation," which involves the development of biomass culture from cells.

The globe urgently needs to choose sustainable alternatives and minimise carbon footprints. Synthetic milk addresses issues such as methane emissions and animal welfare.

However, synthetic milk still faces numerous obstacles before it can be considered a viable replacement.

Milena Bojovic, PhD in Geography and Planning at Macquarie University in Sydney, stated that synthesised milk was not novel. She cited instances from Australia, such as enterprises that produced milk that was subsequently utilised to make ice cream.

One business, All G Foods, raised A$25 million to accelerate the manufacture of synthetic milk, with the goal of making it cheaper than cow milk within seven years.

A 2019 analysis also revealed that the US precision fermentation industry may generate at least 700,000 jobs.
