The government has directed the Pakistan Football Association to hold elections within six months

Description:

The Inter-Provincial Coordination Ministry (IPC) has requested the Normalization Committee (NC) to organise elections for the Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) within next six months.

The Director General of Pakistan Sports Board (PSB), Col (r) Asif Zaman, and IPC Secretary, Ahmad Hanif, informed the National Assembly Standing Committee on IPC that the NC had six months from the date FIFA revoked the international ban to hold PFF elections.

MNA Shahida Rehmani, a National Assembly committee member, also suggested that the PFF election should be conducted within six months and commended the IPC on their participation in lifting the ban on football.

FIFA banned Pakistan football for more than a year due to third-party influence after the Ashfaq Shah Group seized the PFF offices in Lahore last year. FIFA announced that Pakistan is permitted to reincorporate into international football and explicitly indicated that the NC will hold office for a period of one year, during which time they will be expected to lay the groundwork for Pakistan football"s progress and finally hold free and fair elections to designate the new president.

FIFA also stated that any interference from 3rd parties would not be tolerated and may result in another suspension. The Normalization Committee is intended to accomplish its specified objectives by June 30, 2023, and to hold fair elections before even being disbanded.
