In the budget for FY2022-23, the Finance Ministry has set aside Rs. 1.69 billion for 260 Public Sector Development Projects (PSDP) initiatives under the Higher Education Commission (HEC).
The PSDP documents obtained by ProPakistani show that Rs. 200 million has been set aside for the establishment of National University of Pakistan (NUP) in Islamabad.
The National University of Medical Science has been given Rs. 50 million to purchase land from the Capital Development Authority (CDA) for the foundation of Medical City in Islamabad.
Furthermore, Rs. 447.29 million has been set aside for the establishment of eight new academic institutions in Islamabad. The Federal Government College of Home Ec, Management Studies, and Specialized Disciplines in F-11/1 has been allocated Rs. 100 million, and Islamabad Model School in Ghora Shahan has been allocated Rs. 9.08 million.
Islamabad Model College for Boys in G-13/2 has been allocated Rs. 47.06 million, Islamabad Model College for Boys in G-15 has been allocated Rs. 68.49 million, Islamabad Model College for Boys in Margalla Town has been allocated Rs. 30 million, and Islamabad Model College for Boys in Pakistan Town has been allocated Rs. 54.38 million.
Islamabad Model College for Girls in G-13/1 has been allocated Rs. 61 million, while Islamabad Model Institution for Girls in G-14/4 has been allocated Rs. 77.32 million.
Finally, Rs. 1 billion has been set aside to establish 250 vocational training institutes across the country.
