Description:
The Medical and Dental College Entrance Examination (MDCAT) schedule for admissions to MBBS and BDS programmes in 2022 has been released by the Pakistan Medical Commission (PMC).
Details indicate that the PMC accepted the MDCAT pattern at a recent commission meeting after the National Medical and Dental Academic Board (NMDAB) suggested it to the commission.
The following question weighting for the subjects covered by the MDCAT curriculum has been authorised by the PMC:
Biology (34%).
Chemistry is 27%,
Physics is 27%, and
English is 9%.
Reasoning logically 3 percent
The number of questions from each subject may be calculated easily because the MDCAT has 200 MCQs.
68 MCQs in biology
English 18 MCQs,
Physics 54 MCQs,
Chemistry 54 MCQs, and
6 MCQs on logical reasoning
The PMC had earlier this week reduced the MDCAT passing percentage for candidates applying to Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) programmes at dental colleges across the nation.
The panel had authorised decreasing the passing percentage from 65 percent to 55 percent for admission to BDS programmes during a meeting presided over by PMC President Dr. Arshad Taqi.
