Description:
Former New Zealand bowler Simon Doull has lauded Pakistan"s all-round captain Babar Azam, dubbing him the "Big One," a reference to the much-discussed "Big Four" of Virat Kohli, Kane Williamson, Steve Smith, and Joe Root.
"Not many can argue that Babar Azam is undoubtedly the best player in the world right now," Doull said on Day 3 of England"s third Test match against New Zealand.
"In terms of batting in that top order, he is tremendous." Joe Root has a valid point, but when it comes to the Big Four, he is currently the Big One."
The Pakistan captain is the only batsman in the top four in the ICC batting ratings in all three formats. Babar has risen to the top of the ODI and T20I rankings. However, in the test batting rankings, Joe Root is first, with Babar Azam in fourth place.
In 89 one-day internationals, Babar has scored 4,442 runs. He has a mind-boggling 59.22 average, 17 hundreds, and 19 fifties to his name.
The Lahore-born batsman has 2,686 runs in 74 T20I matches at an aggregate of 45.52 with 126 fifties.
Babar, whose been ranked fourth in the test batting rankings, having scored 2,851 runs in 40 matches at an avg of 45.98, including six hundreds.
