PCB will not compensate Pakistani players for missing the ILT20 tournament in the UAE

Description:

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will not compensate Pakistani players who did not participate in the inaugural UAE International League (ILT20).

ILT20 had contacted a number of high-profile players, including captain Babar Azam, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Shadab Khan, and Mohammad Rizwan. A few of them even received offers ranging from PKR 120 million to PKR 140 million.

However, in order to accommodate the busiest schedule, PCB has not yet permitted its cricketers to participate in this league. Two star players formally applied for NOC, but PCB rejected them, while others did not contact after seeing the rejection.

According to sources, players will receive nothing for missing out on crore-plus offers because PCB is only required to pay compensation if the league is held during the off-season.

The PCB Board of Governors (BoG) meeting last month allocated a special fund for elite players under workload management to keep them fully fit and accessible for the country.

The intention was expressed to compensate up to 60% of the loss under this. According to sources, this does not implement to the ILT20 and other leagues as there will be lot of cricket going on in Pakistan during those days.

The loss will only be compensated if the board restricts a player from having participated in the league during the off-season.

When contacted, a top official stated that players are now required to seek permission before naming a league in the draught.

If someone enters the draught on their own and is selected but does not receive the NOC, it will bring our sport into disrepute.

According to the sources, many players are dissatisfied with the expected large financial loss and want to meet with PCB Chairman Ramiz Raja to express their concerns.
