2024 T20 World Cup_ Afghanistan defeats New Zealand to record a significant victory

Description:

Afghanistan defeated New Zealand by 84 runs on Saturday in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024. The Black Caps were bowled out by the Afghan side with Rashid Khan leading the charge, scoring 75 runs in 15.2 overs, chasing 160 run target.

Teams:

Afghanistan (Playing XI):

Rahmanullah Gurbaz(w), Ibrahim Zadran, Najibullah Zadran, Mohammad Nabi, Gulbadin Naib, Azmatullah Omarzai, Rashid Khan(c), Karim Janat, Noor Ahmad, Naveen-ul-Haq, Fazalhaq Farooqi.

New Zealand (Playing XI):

Finn Allen, Devon Conway(w), Kane Williamson(c), Daryl Mitchell, Glenn Phillips, Mark Chapman, Michael Bracewell, Mitchell Santner, Matt Henry, Trent Boult, Lockie Ferguson.

Afghanistan posted a respectable score of 159 for 6 overs after Kane Williamson picked first.

Ibrahim Zadlaw (44) scored 103 runs for the first wicket in 14.3 overs. Rocky Ferguson"s delivery from the other end gave Zadrau three consecutive boundaries; two of them were a quick shot that went to fine leg and towards third man.

Zadrau fell for 13 overs on a squareleg boundary off Finn Allen, who looked to have lost his grip with the batsmen under the lights.

The ball came loose when pulled to third man, went out once and was sent back when it came off his face but goalkeeper Devon Conway was unable to

catch the ball again. New Zealand were still comfortable with Afghanistan"s score of 55 for two in the first half, but two openers later made them pay for it.

Zadrau hit Michael Bracewell for a six and Gurbaz hit Boult for another six as the fast bowler returned.Zadrau was bowled by Matt Henry, who took the wicket of Black Wire"s opener, and Azmatullah Omazari was dismissed by Lockie Ferguson for Boult took two wickets to run in the final over.

The New Zealand side were in immediate trouble when Finn Allen fell from the first ball of the innings to Fazalhaq Farooqi"s ball behind the seam.Fellow opener Conway took 8, Daryl Mitchell 5 and New Zealand reached 28 for 3.

Rashid picks up the ball and hits his first delivery, sending Mark Chapman for four with Bracewell and the next delivery. Then he forgot the other number, thanks to Williamson, and New Zealand were eventually run out after 15.2 overs with their lowest score in T20s.
