Description:
We have some exciting news! Following the release of The Matrix: Resurrected in 2021, Bollywood actor Priyanka Chopra is began work on another Hollywood project, according to The Hollywood Reporter. This time in a romantic comedy starring Mindy Kaling. This is the first time the two will appear on screen together. The Sky Is Pink actor has been cast in the role of Kaling"s cousin, who was born and brought up in India.
Kaling recently told Forbes that she is proud of the "diverse representation of Asian experience in her projects." The writer/comedian revealed more information about the upcoming romantic comedy. The plot revolves around a large Indian wedding in which Kaling and Chopra will play each other"s cousins. Surprisingly, they will come from two different Indian cultures.
Kaling, who also co-wrote this romantic comedy, went on to describe how they incorporated various Indian cultures into the film. She stated, "We"re very proud of it; we show South Asian Americans who are descended from Southern Indians. Then we show an Indian Muslim girl. We can see cultural differences between them. The Asian encounter is not uniform. Why would people know that if there are no shows that demonstrate and explore the difference?"
She continued, "I"m working on a film with Priyanka Chopra, who is a Punjabi Indian from India, and I"m an Indian American Bengali girl from the Eastern Coast. It"s so unique, and it"s what helps to make our dynamic so enjoyable."
The Office star previously expressed her enthusiasm to collaborate to someone like the former Miss World, whose deep love of their homeland has added to the plot. In May 2020, she told FirstPost, "What makes writing that film so enjoyable is playing with the perceptions that Indians and Indian Americans have of one another. Priyanka and her love of India have taught me so much. It has deepened my love for and recognising of India."
Chopra is currently filming Citadel, an Amazon Prime Video web series starring Game of Thrones alum Richard Madden. In addition, the new mother is set to make her Bollywood debut in Jee Le Zaraa, along with A-listers Alia Bhatt and Katrina Kaif.
